DID HE REALLY SAY THAT?
We just recognized the 84th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Sunday, December 7th, 1941. This tragic event claimed the lives of 2,403 service members and civilians. Eight battleships, three destroyers, and seven other ships were sunk, while over two hundred aircraft were destroyed. The number of Americans from "The Greatest Generation" who lived through World War II is dwindling rapidly.
General George S. Patton has been quoted saying,
"It's better to fight for something in life than to die for nothing."
As we reflect on the bravery of that era, I see a similar spirit in the current Harley generation! It’s sad to admit, but the boomer generation is aging out. The original Harley die-hard generation is nearing its climax.
But we are not going out without a fight! I talk weekly with riders who refuse to give up riding! No way! Riding has been their life! It’s “fight or die!” …I’ll Trike or die!
My First Ride
My first bike was a 1938 Harley Knucklehead chopper with a suicide clutch in bright orange. I purchased it from my neighbor when I was just 16 years old. Man, what a ride! I was hooked! I’ve never looked back! Now, at 66, I am fighting to keep “Great riders, Riding!” I refuse to die for nothing!
Honoring the Fallen
I am thankful for the great men and women who have died in the fight during conflicts of war. I also honor the great riders who have passed away, passing the torch to those of us still alive to keep the riding culture thriving for the next generation. While I mourn their passing, I am reminded of another great quote from General Patton:
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived."
Did he really say that? Oh yes, I thank God that such men and women lived! What an inspiration to keep pressing on and on!
The Spirit of Riding
So, what does it mean to ride? It’s not just about the bike; it’s about freedom, adventure, and the camaraderie we share. Riding brings us together, no matter our age or background. It’s a lifestyle, a passion, and a way to honor those who came before us.
Feel the wind in your hair!
Experience the thrill of the open road!
Join a community that celebrates life!
Embracing Change
As we move forward, we must embrace change. The world is evolving, and so are we! Trikes are becoming a popular choice for those who want to keep riding but need a bit more stability and comfort.
I believe that every rider should have the opportunity to enjoy the road, regardless of age or ability. That’s why I’m committed to helping fellow riders transition to trikes. It’s all about keeping the spirit of riding alive!
Let’s Keep Riding!
So, let’s keep the wheels turning! Let’s honor the past while looking forward to the future! Riding is more than just a hobby; it’s a way of life!
Yes, it’s time to Trike the bike!
